Coco Peat

Cocopeat, also known as coir pith, coir dust, or simply coir, is made from coconut husks, which are byproducts of other industries that use coconuts. Coir waste from coir fibre industries is washed, heat-treated, screened and graded before being processed into coco peat products of various granularity and denseness, which are then utilized for horticultural and agricultural applications and as industrial absorbents. It’s usually shipped in the form of compressed bales, briquettes, slabs, or discs, which the end-user then expands and aerates with the addition of water. A single kilogram of coco peat will expand to 15 liters of moist coco peat.

Coconut Fibre

Coco peat is a growing medium and normally used for soil amendments. It’s made from the husks of coconuts. It’s a beneficial product for plant growers and provides an alternative growing medium. It’s used much like sphagnum peat in garden applications. It increases water retention, aeration and provides antifungal benefits when used alone or incorporated into the soil as an ingredient.

How to Use Coco Peat In Garden

Coco peat can be directly incorporated into the garden soil to improve water retention, aeration and decrease the risk of the soil fungus and root diseases. Mix in soil at 25/75 ratio. It can also be used as a mulch around garden plants to help the soil retain moisture and prevent weed growth.
